With the new switch enabled, drives in a normalized and redundant set that report
a SMART error are removed from that set. SMART errors reported by drives in a
non-redundant or non-normal set continue to be treated as recovered errors. If the
switch is disabled, all SMART errors are treated as recovered errors.
• Error Threshold for Drives—ACS now provides the ability to set limits for drive
errors. Once the limit is reached, the questionable drive is removed from any
redundant set it is a member of and put into the failed set. Errors counted are
medium and recovered errors. Hardware errors are not included in this count since
the drive fails immediately when a hardware error is encountered.
