HP StorageWorks HSG80 ACS Solution Software V8.8 for Tru64 UNIX Installation and Configuration Guide (AA-RV1VA-TE, March 2005)

Preparing the Host System
120 HSG80 ACS Solution Software V8.8 for Tru64 UNIX Installation and Configuration Guide
To Create a new SAN - Basically the system administrator unlocks the
connection table, connect the desired hosts, and then lock the connection
table. As the hosts are connected they login to the controller pair. After the
connection table is locked, the host logins are rejected until the system
administrator manually adds the host to the connection table.
To Add a new Host to a SAN - A new host is added to the fabric that needs
connectivity to the HSG80. Attempts to login are rejected because the
connection table is locked. The system administrator is called, and manually
adds an entry for the new host by creating a new connection from the rejected
host.
To Delete a Host - While the connection table is locked, delete the connection
for the selected host. When the host realizes that it cannot talk to the HSG80
anymore, it may try to login again, but those attempts will be rejected since
the connection table is locked.
Too Many Hosts? - If more than 96 connections are present, all host logins
will be rejected, regardless of the state of the lock.
Selective Management Presentation
Selective Management Presentation is a control method that extends the use of the
Selective Storage Presentation concept currently available on logical units
(LUNs). You can use this mechanism to send control commands to the HSG80
controller (see “What is Selective Storage Presentation?” on page 48).
The new access mechanism provides control over which, SAN Management
Agent systems can perform management operations.
In order to define the set of Management Agent host systems that can access the
HSG80 management functions, new CLI commands are defined. These
commands allow the user to selectively enable or disable host access to the control
mechanism. These new commands provide for the addition and removal of
Management Agent Host systems, and the ability to display the currently enabled
systems.
Removing Management Agent Host systems
The following command disables access to the management functions. The user
can specify all systems or a list of systems.
HSG80> SET DISABLE_MANAGERS=ALL
HSG80> SET DISABLE_MANAGERS=(host list…)
