Preparing HP-UX System
Recommendations for preparing the HP-UX system prior to upgrading your ACS
firmware are:
1. Build and verify a full backup of your HP-UX system as close as possible to
the time you intend to upgrade your ACS firmware.
2. Make a backup copy of your HP-UX kernel for safety recovery.
3. Build a mapping of your volume groups. Export them into map files.
4. Save a listing of all mounted file systems.
5. Shut-down all SWCC Agents. For MC/ServiceGuard clusters this must be
done on all nodes.
6. Set option 4 on the SWCC Agent menu auto start at boot options to the off
state. For MC/ServiceGuard clusters, set option 4 to the off state on all nodes.
Rolling Upgrades
Most major problems that occur when performing a rolling upgrade are due to the
changes to the array controller NVRAM configuration. Therefore, it is important
to follow the rolling upgrade procedure exactly.
