Preparing the Host System
109HSG80 ACS Solution Software V8.8 for Sun Solaris Installation and Configuration Guide
3. Start the Installation Manager by running the install_stgwks script.
4. The script will scan the server for compatible HBAs and ask you if you wish
to install drivers for those HBAs. The default answer is Yes. Answer no (n) if
you do not wish to install a driver.
Note: If Solaris 8 Patch 111097-12/13 or Solaris 9 Patch 113042-04/05 is installed
before the HSG80 Solution Software, the Sun native qlc (Qlogic) driver will bind to HP
FCA2257x (Qlogic) HBAs and the QLA2200 or QLA2300 driver will fail to attach. If
this condition exists, the installation process will detect the incorrect binding, request
that you reboot the server after installing the HBA driver but before completing
installation and request that you restart the install_stgwks script following the
reboot. The extra reboot will resolve the incorrect binding and allow the installation to
complete successfully.
5. Installation Manager prompts you for the package base directory. Enter the
package base directory. This directory has the “steam” subdirectory,
containing the RAID Manager files, created under it. The default directory is
/opt.
Loop mode: Each HBA is configured for LUNs 0 through 15 at targets 64
and 65 (corresponds with ALPAs 72 and 71).
Fabric mode: You will be prompted for the SCSI targets to bind through
for each HBA and the Worldwide Port Names (WWPNs) to attach to.
Note: Please answer yes (y) to the following query. The files mentioned must be
modified by the Solution Software installation.
The following files are already installed on the
system and are being used by another package:
/etc/inet/services
/etc/nsswitch.conf
/etc/syslog.conf
/etc/system
Do you want to install these conflicting files
[y,n,?]
Installation Manager prompts you to rescan your system for supported adapter
drivers.
