Hsz/HsxDisk Driver
Note: HsxDisk refers to the Windows 2000 device driver. HszDisk refers to the
Windows NT device driver.
The Hsz/HsxDisk driver works with the Hsz/HSG-family of RAID controllers to
enhance the Windows 2000/Windows NT online storage availability and
fault-tolerance.
Hsz/HsxDisk works in single-host and cluster environments to maintain optimum
subsystem performance during storageset error recovery conditions (For example:
the failure of a RAID 3/5 or mirrorset drive member).
Hsz/HsxDisk also works in single-host and cluster environments to assist the
subsystem during controller failover and failback operations. In Windows
NT/Windows 2000 cluster environments, Hsz/HsxDisk works to facilitate Hsz-
/HSG-based storageset migration during host failover and failback events.
Hsz/HsxDisk services Hsz and HSG based storage devices and does not affect the
operation or performance of other storage devices on the system. The driver uses
of the Windows NT/Windows 2000 system event log and posts error and
informational events when required. If the driver loads successfully during boot
time, it posts an informational message in the log reporting that it claimed
available Hsz- and HSG-based storagesets.
Fibre Channel Software Setup utility supports driver un-installation with
Windows NT 4.0 or Windows 2000. Hsz/HsxDisk may be uninstalled using the
Add/Remove program applet from the control panel. However, you should not
uninstall the driver unless you have disconnected the subsystem from the servers.
HSG-family RAID controllers should never be installed without Hsz/HsxDisk.sys
configured.
FCA Driver Support
The FCA is the PCI Fibre Channel adapter that is supported with the Enterprise
Modular Storage RAID Array Fibre Channel RAID System. Because the Fibre
Channel utility can only modify existing FCA registry settings, the driver from the
supplied floppy must be installed prior to running the Fibre Channel Setup Utility.
The Fibre Channel Setup Utility changes the FCA driver registry settings and
copies an updated version of the driver to the driver’s directory to ensure proper
operational use of the FCA Fibre Channel host adapter with the Enterprise Storage
