2003 (32-bit) Installation and Configuration Guide
The Silent Install can be used for:
Fibre Channel Software Setup for Transparent Switch
Fibre Channel Software Setup for Multibus Switch
Installing HBA drivers and/or Fibre Channel utilities. See the README files
provided with the Solution Software Kit for these instructions.
Storageworks Command Console Client/Agent (While creating the response
file for the Agent, choose Exit during the Agent Configuration of the
installation. Use the HS Series Agent Configurator to setup agent)
The following are instructions on how to setup and create this method of install to
simplify the job on other systems. For specific installation order, refer to the
Installing RAID Array Storage System” on page 102.
Steps for StorageWorks Command Console:
1. Open the Command Prompt and go to the directory where setup.exe is
located.
2. At the Command Prompt, type “setup.exe -r” (without the quotes) and
complete the install to record the desired installation choices. This will
generate the setup.iss file.
3. Locate the “setup.iss” file in the WINNT folder. You can copy this file to the
location of choice (copying to the same location of setup.exe is preferred).
4. To run the silent install, open the Command Prompt and change to the
directory where the setup.exe that generated the silent setup file (setup.iss) is
located.
5. Type “setup.exe -s” (without the quotes). The “-s” switch will direct the install
process to use the choices that were recorded in the setup.iss file. This will
produce a “setup.log” file in the folder where the setup.exe file is located.
Setup.exe -s can be used if the setup.iss is located in the same folder.
Options
There are additional command line switches that can be used with “-s”.
-f1<path>\setup.iss (Specifies an alternate location and name of the
response file (.iss file))
-f2<path>\setup.log (Specifies an alternate location and name of the
log file created)
