Establishing a Local Connection
A local connection is required to configure the controller until a command console
LUN (CCL) is established using the CLI. Communication with the controller can
be through the CLI or SWCC.
The maintenance port, shown in Figure 38, provides a way to connect a
maintenance terminal. The maintenance port can be an EIA-423 compatible
terminal or a computer running a terminal emulator program. The maintenance
port accepts a standard RS-232 (RJ45) jack. The maintenance port cable shown in
Figure 38 has a 9-pin connector molded onto the end for a PC connection. If you
need a terminal connection or a 25-pin connection, you can order optional cabling.

Caution: The maintenance port generates, uses, and can radiate
radio-frequency energy through its cables. This energy may interfere with
radio and television reception. Disconnect all maintenance port cables when
not communicating with the controller through the local connection.
