Removing Disk Partitions
Note: Before making changes, back up your system.
When making changes to an existing RAID Array configuration, any existing disk
partitions to be changed (or removed) must first be deleted using Windows NT
Disk Administrator or Windows 2000/Server 2003 Disk Management. After they
have been deleted, you may use the CLI to create new Storagesets.
1. From Disk Administrator or Disk Management, click the partition you wish to
delete.
2. Access the Partition menu and choose Delete.
3. Continue selecting and deleting the partitions until you have deleted all the
partitions you wish. When finished, click Commit Changes Now. You may
now reconfigure the subsystem using the CLI.
4. Restart your system so Windows NT will recognize the changes. In Windows
2000 and Windows Server 2003 (32-bit), you can rescan from Disk
Management, to avoid a reboot.
Solution Software Upgrade Procedures
Use the following procedures for upgrades to your Solution Software. It is
considered best practice to follow this order of procedures:
1. Perform backups of data prior to upgrade.
2. Verify operating system versions, upgrade operating systems to supported
versions and patch levels.
3. Quiesce all I/O and unmount all file systems before proceeding.
4. If installing on a system that uses Secure Path, upgrade Secure Path to the
latest version, which will also upgrade solution software, then skip to step 7.
5. Upgrade solution software.
6. Upgrade ACS software.
There is also a “Silent Install” procedure available. See “Solution Software Silent
Installation” on page 132 for this information.
