9. Click the Apply button in the Customized Volume pane. When prompted for confirmation, click OK. The
words Format in progress appear next to the Progress Bar.
10.When the percentage shown on the Progress Bar reaches 100%, a message informs you that the
format operation is complete. Click OK.
11.Confirm that the status of the volume is Normal.
Formatting all blocked volumes
Use the Format All pane to format all blocked volumes in parity groups in the local disk array and/or
external disk array.
CAUTION: You cannot format virtual volumes.
The Format All pane contains the following:
Parity Group Type: Volumes to be formatted.
All Type: Formats blocked volumes in all parity groups in the local and external disk arrays.
Internal PG: Formats blocked volumes in all parity groups in the local disk array.
External PG: Formats block volumes in all parity groups in the external disk array.
List: Information about volumes to be formatted.
PG: Parity groups containing volumes to be formatted.
Blocked Count: Number of blocked volumes to be formatted.
OK: Applies settings to the Volume Management pane, and closes the Format All pane.
NOTE: After you click OK, the tree in the Volume Management main pane displays VDEVs
immediately below parity groups containing volumes to be formatted.
Cancel: Cancels settings, and closes the Format All pane.
Writing to control blocks
Use the Write to Control Blocks pane to make external mainframe volumes usable. This pane overwrites
control blocks in external volumes in the specified external volume group. Control blocks contain
information used for managing volumes.
