Upgrade Checklist
The prerequisites and tasks provided in the upgrade checklist are organized as follows:
Before upgrading P9000 Performance Advisor: This section lists the tasks and prerequisites that
you must complete before starting the P9000 Performance Advisor upgrade process on your
management station.
Upgrading P9000 Performance Advisor: This section directs you to the P9000 Performance Advisor
installation wizard.
After upgrading P9000 Performance Advisor: This section lists the post-upgrade tasks and pre-
requisites you must complete before upgrading the P9000 Performance Advisor host agents.
Upgrading P9000 Performance Advisor host agents: This section directs you to the P9000 Perform-
ance Advisor host agents upgrade procedures for the host agents you want to upgrade.
After installing P9000 Performance Advisor host agents: This section lists the post-upgrade tasks
and prerequisites that you must complete to login, and configure data collections in P9000 Per-
formance Advisor.
Using P9000 Performance Advisor: This section lists the procedures to collect configuration and
performance data from your XP and P9000 disk arrays.

Before upgrading P9000 Performance Advisor
Determine the version of P9000 Performance Advisor currently installed on your management station.
For more information, see Determining the current version of P9000 Performance Advisor on page 102.
Ensure that the %PADB_HOME% and the %PATH% environment variables are configured correctly, and
the P9000 Performance Advisor database services are also active. If the %ORACLE_HOME% environment
variable is configured, ensure that it does not point to any location.

If you have chosen a Windows server where User Access Control (UAC) is enabled, disable the UAC to
perform the upgrade process.

Have adequate free disk space (at least double the size of the existing database) available in the location
where you intend to install Oracle on your management station.
For more information, see Using v4.5.x, v4.6, v5.0, or v5.1 of P9000 Performance
Advisor on page 104.
Upgrading P9000 Performance Advisor
Upgrade to the latest version of P9000 Performance Advisor on your management station.
At this point, return to the P9000 Performance Advisor Installation Wizard Welcome window to proceed
with the upgrade. For more information, see Chapter 7 on page 105.
IMPORTANT:
After upgrading P9000 Performance Advisor, return to this checklist to complete the remaining
prerequisites and tasks to download, and upgrade the P9000 Performance Advisor host agents.
