HP StorageWorks P9000 Performance Advisor Software v5.2 Install Guide (T1789-96317, May 2011)

1. Take a backup of the installed PADB database, the Oracle base directory, and the Oracle
inventory under the c:\Program files\oracle directory using the Backup utility. The
environment variable %PADB_HOME% points to the Oracle base directory. You can restore the
inventory later if required.
For more information on using the Backup utility, see the HP StorageWorks P9000 Performance
Advisor Software User Guide.
NOTE:
The database install location and the Oracle base directory are the same.
2. Stop all client connections and tools (such as P9000Watch, P9000Info) that are currently using
P9000 Performance Advisor related files.
3. Close all open folders that contain P9000 Performance Advisor files and ensure that no
applications are accessing any files pointed to by %PADB_HOME%.
4. Ensure that the following services are stopped:
Distributed Transaction Coordinator
HP StorageWorks P9000 Performance Advisor Database
HP StorageWorks P9000 Performance Advisor Database Job Scheduler
By default, this service is disabled.
HP StorageWorks P9000 Performance Advisor Database Listener
HP StorageWorks P9000 Performance Advisor Database VSS Writer
HP StorageWorks P9000 Performance Advisor Monitor
HP StorageWorks P9000 Performance Advisor Security
HP StorageWorks P9000 Performance Advisor Tomcat
To stop the above mentioned services, do the following:
a. Select Start > Run, type services.msc, and press the Enter key.
The Services window appears.
b. Right-click the respective services and select Stop from the list that appears.
c. Close the Services dialog box.
Procedure
IMPORTANT:
When you double-click the Oracle patch installer, it takes some time to initialize. Wait for the installer
screens to appear.
To install the latest Oracle patches and security updates:
1. Execute the Oracle patch installer from the OraclePatchInstaller folder on Disk2 of the
DVD.
