HP StorageWorks P9000 Performance Advisor Software v5.2 Install Guide (T1789-96317, May 2011)

If you have logged into P9000 Performance Advisor, the host agent version is also displayed in
the Host Information table under HA Version. For more information, see Requesting host up-
date on page 89.
If the host agent version is different, upgrade the existing host agent version to be in sync with the
version of P9000 Performance Advisor installed on your management station. For more information,
see Upgrading to the latest versions of host agents on page 113.
Specifying the correct HTTP port number of the management station in the paxp_service.prop-
erties file available in the <hostagent_home>\config folder. <hostagent_home>
translates to the location on your host where the host agent is installed. For more information, see
Resolving management station and host agent connectivity issues on page 135.
After you are able to view the host agent records, refresh the Host Information table on the Array
View screen. For more information, see Using P9000 Performance Advisor on page 89. You can
also see the chapter on communicating with hosts in the HP StorageWorks P9000 Performance Advisor
Software User Guide. For document download location, see Related documentation on page 152.
Resolving management station and host agent connectivity issues
The P9000 Performance Advisor and host agents connectivity issues can arise if the port number that
P9000 Performance Advisor uses is different from the one that the host agents use for establishing
communication with P9000 Performance Advisor. It can occur in the following installation or
upgradation scenarios:
Case 1: P9000 Performance Advisor is upgraded to v5.2 on the management station and host
agent v5.2 is installed on the host.
Case 2: P9000 Performance Advisor v5.2 is installed on the management station and host agent
is upgraded to v5.2 on the host.
Case 3: P9000 Performance Advisor v5.2 is installed on the management station and host agent
v5.2 is installed on the host.
In cases 1 and 2, during the P9000 Performance Advisor and the host agents upgrade, port 80 on
the management station is by default reserved for the P9000 Performance Advisor and host agents
(Windows or UNIX) to communicate after the upgrade. If you specified a port other than port 80
during the P9000 Performance Advisor and host agents v5.2 installation, it is not considered. So, the
connectivity issues arise as there is a mis-match in the ports that P9000 Performance Advisor and host
agents use to communicate. In case 3, though you have the option of providing a port number of
your choice during the P9000 Performance Advisor installation, the same port number might not be
specified while installing the host agents. The following illustrations depict the cases discussed.
