HP StorageWorks P9000 Performance Advisor Software v5.3 Install Guide (T1789-96323, August 2011)

After the P9000 Performance Advisor host agents are installed, the P9000 Performance Advisor
automatically displays the corresponding details in the Host Information table on the Array View
screen. It is an indication that the connectivity is established between the management station and
the host. When host agents are installed or upgraded, their current status is displayed as Received.
If you are not able to view the host agent records in the Host Information table, see Host agents are
not seen in P9000 Performance Advisor after an install or upgrade on page 134 on reasons and how
to troubleshoot.
To view the host agent details:
1. Log on to P9000 Performance Advisor. For more information, see Launching P9000 Performance
Advisor on page 65.
2. Click Array View in the left pane.
3. Click the Host Information tab on the Array View screen. The P9000 Performance Advisor

To manually refresh the Host Information table, click Refresh Hosts. The manual refresh is required if
you have made changes on the XP or the P9000 disk array connected to your host agent, such as
creating a new command device or re-installing the host agent.
After the host agents appear in the Host Information table, start collecting configuration and
performance data for your XP and P9000 disk arrays. For more information, see Using P9000
Performance Advisor on page 89.
Assigning GUIDs for command devices on a Windows host
agent
To overcome device renaming and device remapping issues during data collection, HP recommends
that you use the Windows GUID (\\?\Volume{GUID}) to perform configuration and performance
data collection instead of using the device file names.
Complete the following steps to use the GUID:
1. Log on to the P9000 Performance Advisor host agent and stop the host agent and real-time ser-
vices. For steps to stop these services, see Appendix B.
