HP StorageWorks P9000 Performance Advisor Software v5.3 User and Troubleshooting Guide (T1789-96322, August 2011)

Components based filtering is also possible when multiple components are selected across the XP
and the P9000 disk arrays. However, the selected components must belong to the same component
type. Use the Shift or the Ctrl key for selecting multiple components. The following are examples of
valid and invalid combination of components:
Example: Valid combination, as both the components belong to the RAID group component type:
RAID group 11 in XP disk array 10055
RAID group 21 in P9000 disk array 53036
Example: Invalid combination, as the components belong to different component types, RAID group
and MP blade:
RAID group 11 in P9000 disk array 53036
MP blade MPB-1MA in P9000 disk array 53036
Hence, only the records for the last selected component are displayed in the Alarms table. In the
above example, if you selected MP blade MPB-1MA after RAID group 11, only the alarm records
for MPB-1MA are displayed in the Alarms table.
Filtering records based on metrics and alarm status
After using the first level filter to view specific set of records for selected components, you can further
apply the second level filters to view a subset of records for a particular metric and alarm status. These
second level filters are based on metrics associated with the selected components, and the status of
alarms configured. This combination is useful when you want to configure alarm settings on components
that are associated with a specific metric, and the alarm status is either active or passive. These filters
are available under the Alarm Configuration tab.
NOTE:
These filters are enabled only when you select a component from the component selection tree and
have to be used in conjunction with each other.
To filter records:
1. Select the metric from the Metrics list. The Metrics list displays only those metrics that are associated
with the selected components. When you select the All option in the Metrics list, all the alarm
records configured on the selected component are displayed in the Alarms table.
If you select an XP or P9000 disk array is selected in the component selection tree, and then
choose the All option in the Metrics list, all the alarm records configured on the different
components in that disk array are displayed.
2. Select Active or Passive from the Alarms Status list.
The records in the Alarms table are filtered to show records for the selected metric and alarm
status.
For example, if you have filtered records in the Alarms table for RAID groups, 13 and 15. Their
associated metrics are RAID Group Total IO Frontend, RAID Group Total MB Frontend, and RAID
Group Sequential Read Tracks Backend. The Metrics list displays RAID Group Total IO Frontend,
RAID Group Total MB Frontend, and RAID Group Sequential Read Tracks Backend metrics. The
following are the combination of records that are displayed in the Alarms table:
RAID Group 13 and RAID Group Total IO Frontend metric
RAID Group 13 and RAID Group Total MB Frontend metric
RAID Group 13 and RAID Group Sequential Read Tracks Backend metric
