HP StorageWorks P9000 Performance Advisor Software v5.3 User and Troubleshooting Guide (T1789-96322, August 2011)

6. Restart the P9000 Performance Advisor Tomcat service.
Go to Start > Programs > HP StorageWorks > P9000 Performance Advisor to restart the services.
Average values are higher than maximum values
If the average values for Port metrics are showing higher than the maximum values for XP 10000 and
XP 12000 set of arrays, you need to upgrade the array firmware to 50-09-34 or later.
Array type not seen in P9000Watch
If the array type for a particular DKC serial number is not displayed in P9000Watch, it might be due
to the command device being non-functional or not created.
To verify, run getxpperf with the command device name.
For example: ./getxpperf /dev/rdisk/c0d0t1, where /dev/rdisk/c0d0t1 is the command
device name.
For Windows host agent, the getxpperf tool is present in the <Installation_directory>:\
xppa\hostagent\sbin folder.
For non-Windows host agent, the getxpperf tool is present in the \opt\xppa\hostagent\sbin
folder.
If you see errors related to the command device, such as the Attach command error, it implies that
the command device is corrupted and needs to be recreated.
Delays in alarm dispatch and email notification generation
If you detect delays in alarm dispatches and the generation of email notifications, ensure that the
P9000 Performance Advisor management station and the host are in the same time zone and have
the same time settings. You must also verify that the Oracle service is running. However, if there are
reports scheduled at the same time as the alarm email notification, then the notification through email
may get delayed. This is because P9000 Performance Advisor uses the same mechanism to send both
alarm email notifications and reports to users.
Entries in the event log during database size modification
The alarm dispatcher failure exceptions, XML exception, document messages, and report dispatcher
thread exceptions may occur and be logged in the Event log file, when the Oracle database size is
being modified. These exceptions can be ignored safely.
Event log not updating
If events are not updated in the event log as soon as an operation is done, then check the time
difference between the machine from where the P9000 Performance Advisor application is launched
using the web browser and management station where P9000 Performance Advisor is installed. If
there is a time difference between the management station and the machine from where the P9000
Performance Advisor application is launched you must include the management station time in the
Event Log screen. To add the management station time:
1. Log on to P9000 Performance Advisor.
