To confirm whether the above-mentioned services have started, see “Confirming the HP XP P9000
Performance Advisor services (page 64).
IMPORTANT: The HP XP P9000 Performance Advisor Monitor service periodically monitors the
HP XP P9000 Performance Advisor tomcat and database services, and dispatches appropriate
email notifications that provide the status of these services. To receive notifications, configure the
SMTP notification settings in the PAMonitor_mail.properties file available in the
<Install_Drive>:\HPSS\paMonitor\conf folder on your management station. For more
information, see the HP XP P9000 Performance Advisor Software User Guide.
The installer log details are available in the PA_Install.log file which is located in the path
<system_drive>:\P9000_PA_Install_Log, where <system_drive> is the drive on which
the operating system is installed. For the PA_Install.log to open, Windows Installer v4.0 or
later should be installed on the management station and functioning properly.
To verify that you can access HP XP P9000 Performance Advisor, select the Launch HP XP P9000
Performance Advisor Management Station v5.5 check box. An IE browser window opens to launch
HP XP P9000 Performance Advisor from the management station. For more information, see
“Launching HP XP P9000 Performance Advisor (page 66).
Review the procedures mentioned under “Configuring HP XP P9000 Performance Advisor related
settings (page 65) before logging in to HP XP P9000 Performance Advisor. If any of those
procedures are applicable for your current setup, complete them for accessing HP XP P9000
Performance Advisor.
After accessing the HP XP P9000 Performance Advisor, do one of the following based on whether
you have performed an installation or upgrade:
Return to the installation checklist to complete the remaining prerequisites and checklist items
for installing the host agents. For more information, see “Installation checklist for HP XP P9000
Performance Advisor (page 19).
Return to the upgrade checklist to complete the remaining prerequisites and checklist items for
upgrading the host agents. For more information, see “Upgrade checklist for HP XP P9000
Performance Advisor (page 102).

Confirming the HP XP P9000 Performance Advisor services
To confirm whether the HP XP P9000 Performance Advisor services have started after installation:
1. Select Start+Run, type services.msc, and press the Enter key.
The Services window appears.
2. If HP XP P9000 Performance Advisor is installed, the status of the following services are in the
Started mode.
HP XP P9000 Performance Advisor Database
HP XP P9000 Performance Advisor Database Listener
HP XP P9000 Performance Advisor Security
HP XP P9000 Performance Advisor Tomcat
HP XP P9000 Performance Advisor Monitor
