1. Open a new IE browser window. If you are accessing HP XP P9000 Performance Advisor
locally on your management station or remotely over a secure connection, enter one of the
following http addresses in the browser address line (the HP XP P9000 Performance Advisor
URL is case-sensitive):
Server name followed by /pa for accessing HP XP P9000 Performance Advisor locally
on the management station. For example, http://[server name]/pa
Server name and domain name followed by /pa for accessing HP XP P9000 Performance
Advisor remotely over a secure connection. For example, https://[server
name].[domain name]/pa
If you cannot locate the management station using the above-mentioned methods, enter the
IP address of the management station followed by /pa. For example, http(s)://[IP
address]/pa.
The HP XP P9000 Performance Advisor Login screen appears.
IMPORTANT: These http address formats are valid only if HP XP P9000 Performance Advisor
is using port 80 for all its communications. If port 80 is not being used, you must specify the
port number along with the server name or IP address in the http address format. For example:
http://[server name]:<port_no>/pa or http://[server name].[domain
name]:<port_no>/pa.
2. Enter your user name and password. HP XP P9000 Performance Advisor authenticates your
credentials based on the authentication type you selected while installing HP XP P9000
Performance Advisor. Your site or system administrator will have information on the
authentication type configured on the management station. For more information on
authentication types, see “Implementing the authentication method” (page 52).
You can also log in using the default HP XP P9000 Performance Advisor administrator account
(administrator:administrator), if the HP XP P9000 Performance Advisor Native
Authentication method has been selected.
The HP XP P9000 Performance Advisor Home screen appears. The main menu appears in
the left pane. The version of HP XP P9000 Performance Advisor that you just installed is
displayed on the top left pane along with the product name and build number. To view the
respective main screens, click any of the main menu items.
If you have generated a license key file at the Hewlett-Packard Authorization Center (HPAC)
and want to add it to HP XP P9000 Performance Advisor, click PA and DB Settings+License
in the left pane. For more information, see “Viewing product license entitlement certificate for
existing customers (page 67).
After accessing HP XP P9000 Performance Advisor, return to the installation checklist to complete
the remaining prerequisites and checklist items for installing the host agents. For more information,
see “Installation checklist for HP XP P9000 Performance Advisor (page 19).
Viewing product license entitlement certificate for existing customers
The product license entitlement certificate includes a registration number, which is a unique identifier
that helps you to generate a license key for HP XP P9000 Performance Advisor. The registration
number is unique to the XP disk array or the P9000 disk array for which it is used and cannot be
associated with another XP or P9000 disk array serial number. The following sets of product
entitlement certificates are available:
XP entitlement certificates: The registration numbers can be used on XP disk arrays only, such
as the XP24000, XP20000, XP12000, XP10000, XP1024, and the XP128.
HP XP P9000 entitlement certificates: The registration numbers can be used on P9000 disk
arrays only.
