HP XP P9000 Performance Advisor Software v5.5 Install Guide (T1789-96339, February 2013)

automatically updated in HP XP P9000 Performance Advisor. If there are new components that
you want to monitor, enable the associated performance data collection schedules to automatically
collect data for the new components (RAID groups and ports).
IMPORTANT: If the configuration data collection fails due to an error, the Collection Status displays
. The reason for the error is displayed as a tool tip.
After completing the configuration data collection, start collecting the performance data for the XP
or the P9000 disk array. For more information, see “Collecting performance data (page 98).
Collecting performance data
IMPORTANT:
The performance data collection does not start if the configuration data collection is in progress.
After the configuration collection is complete, the performance data collection starts
automatically.
You can create only one performance data collection schedule on a selected command device.
You can select a command device that is mapped through two different ports. For better
performance, select a maximum of two command devices that belong to different ports.
A schedule cannot be created for the same XP or P9000 disk array through two different host
agents.
If you select all the seven component types, set a minimum frequency of 15 minutes and a
maximum of 60 minutes.
If configured in an XP or a P9000 disk array, it is mandatory that you select all the continuous
access journal, snapshot, and ThP components from the respective component type lists.
In a multipathing environment, ensure that a command device is not exposed to a host from
two different ports. It stops the current performance data collection, as the schedule configured
to obtain the collection is automatically deleted.
If you have performed a one-time configuration data collection and later the XP or the P9000
disk array configuration has changed, HP recommends that you perform a fresh configuration
data collection, so that the performance data collected is for the latest configuration.
To schedule a performance data collection:
1. Click Monitoring+Array View in the left pane.
2. Click the Performance Collection tab on the Array View screen.
Alternatively, click an XP or a P9000 disk array icon in the Available Arrays section to view
the corresponding set of records highlighted under the Performance Collection tab. The existing
set of records are automatically sorted to display the records for the selected XP or the P9000
disk array at the beginning of the Performance Collection table. The records for the selected
XP or P9000 disk array are highlighted for your reference.
3. In the Performance Collection table, select the XP or the P9000 disk array, for which you want
to schedule performance data.
4. Click Create. The Create button is enabled only when you select an XP or a P9000 disk array
record under the Performance Collection tab. Based on whether it is the first or the second
