If you plan to install a UNIX host agent, verify whether the supported JRE version is installed and if the JAVA
path is pointing to the installed location on your host.

For a Windows host agent, the compatible JRE version is automatically installed.
Configure settings for installing the HP XP7 Performance Advisor host agents on the Windows and the UNIX
hosts.
For more information, see “Configuring settings on Windows and UNIX hosts” (page 36).
Create the command devices on your XP, P9500 and XP7 disk arrays, and assign them to the host agents.
For more information, see “Creating and assigning command devices to host agents” (page 37).
IMPORTANT: If you are currently using the RAID Manager (Business Copy and Continuous Access Synchronous),
you already have command devices that can be used by an HP XP7 Performance Advisor host agent.
Map the command devices to the guest operating platforms, if these operating platforms are residing on the
virtual servers.

Installing HP XP7 Performance Advisor
Install HP XP7 Performance Advisor on your management station.
At this point, return to the HP XP7 Performance Advisor Installation Wizard Welcome window to proceed with
the installation. For more information, see “Installing the XP7 Performance Advisor” (page 43).
IMPORTANT: After installing HP XP7 Performance Advisor, return to this checklist to complete the remaining
prerequisites and tasks for downloading and installing the HP XP7 Performance Advisor host agents.
After installing HP XP7 Performance Advisor
For Windows System Authentication, add users, administrators, and grant them privileges on your management
station.
For more information, see “Configuring HP XP7 Performance Advisor related settings” (page 63).
Verify if the JAVA path is pointing to the installed JRE location on your management station.
For more information, see “Verifying installed JRE version” (page 62).
Launch HP XP7 Performance Advisor and log in using your credentials.
IMPORTANT: Install Adobe Flash Player on the system from where you will access HP XP7 Performance
Advisor. Download Adobe Flash Player and Flash Player Plugin, v10.1.85.3 or later from the following location:
http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/.

Add users and grant them the administrator, or user privileges, if you have implemented Performance Advisor
Native Authentication.

Download the HP XPInfo software and the host agent files (.tar) to the Windows and UNIX hosts from the HP
XP7 Performance Advisor Support screen.

Verify connectivity from the Windows and UNIX host agents to the respective command devices using the HP
XP XPInfo software.
