Executing the OpenVMS Integrity Server host agent installer
IMPORTANT:
Before you begin the installation, use HP XPInfo to verify that the connectivity to the command
device is established. For more information, see “Verifying host agent connectivity to a
command device (page 42).
Ensure that the TCP/IP services are running on the OpenVMS host.
The JRE v1.6.0–2.p1 is bundled along with the OpenVMS Integrity Server host agent software.
RAID Manager Library is not required for the installation of the host agent software.
Download the OVMS Host agent (XPPA_HA_OVMS_IA64.tar) tar file from the HP XP7
Performance Advisor support page, untar it, and then transfer the host agent
(HP-I64VMS-HPXPPAHA-V0601--1.PCSI) file to host
To run the OpenVMS Integrity Server host agent installer:
1. Log into the OpenVMS host as a "system-user".
2. Navigate to the tmp directory or to the folder where you copied the
HP-I64VMS-HPXPPAHA-V0601--1.PCSI file.
3. At the prompt, enter product install HPXPPAHA to begin the installation.
The installation script displays a series of prompts. Respond to these prompts as appropriate
for your environment.
4. Click Y to continue.
5. Enter a valid IPv4 address of the management station.
Ensure that both the HP XP7 Performance Advisor and host agent uses the same protocol,
IPv4, to communicate. Also, configure the HTTP port that the host agent must use to communicate
with HP XP7 Performance Advisor.
NOTE: The IPv6 address format is not supported.
6. Enter the port number that the host agent must use to communicate with the management
station.
7. Press Enter to confirm the details and begin the installation.
The installation wizard installs the HP XP7 Performance Advisor OVMS host agent in the
following location: SYS$COMMON:[HEWLETTPACKARD.XPPAHOSTSW]
Completing the OpenVMS Integrity Server host agent installation
The HP XP7 Performance Advisor OpenVMS Integrity Server host agent is installed according to
the selected settings. After the installation is complete, the host agent services start.

The following HP XP7 Performance Advisor OpenVMS Integrity Server host agent services start:
HP XP7 Performance Advisor Hostagent
HP XP7 Performance Advisor Realtime Server
To confirm that these services have started, see “Confirming the HP XP7 Performance Advisor
OpenVMS Integrity Server host agent services (page 79).
You can also verify that the host agent log file is created, by typing the following command at the
prompt: set def SYS$COMMON:[HEWLETTPACKARD.XPPAHOSTSW.HOSTAGENT.LOG]
The name of the log file is prefixed with the date and time, that is,
yyyy-MM-dd_hh-mm-ss_PerformanceAdvisorXP.log. For example,
2009-09-16_09-22-08_PerformanceAdvisorXP.log
