HP XP7 PA Software Installation Guide

NOTE: The PerformanceAdvisorXP.log file cannot be opened when the host agent and
realtime services are active on an OpenVMS Integrity Server (IA-64) host. To view the log file, stop
the services, navigate to the hostagent/log/ folder, and then open the
PerformanceAdvisorXP.log file. For more information on stopping the host agent and realtime
services, see “Starting, stopping, and restarting host agent services” (page 121).
After the installation, return to the installation checklist to complete the remaining tasks specified
in the checklist. For more information, see “HP XP7 Performance Advisor and host agents installation
checklist” (page 19).
Confirming the HP XP7 Performance Advisor OpenVMS Integrity Server host agent services
To confirm whether the HP XP7 Performance Advisor OpenVMS Integrity Server host agent services
have started, type the following command at the system prompt:
show queue
The following output must be displayed:
Batch queue REALTIMEBATCH, available, on VMS84::
Entry Jobname Username Status

8 STARTREALTIME SYSTEM Executing

If the host agent or real-time service does not start automatically, type the following command at
the system prompt to manually restart the host agent and real-time
services:@SYS$COMMON:[HEWLETTPACKARD.XPPAHOSTSW]xppa.com
Verifying if the host agents appear in HP XP7 Performance Advisor
NOTE: This section is also applicable for the upgrade process.
After the HP XP7 Performance Advisor host agents are installed, the HP XP7 Performance Advisor
automatically displays the corresponding details in the Host Information table on the Array View
screen. It is an indication that the connectivity is established between the management station and
the host. When host agents are installed or upgraded, their current status is displayed as Received.
If you are not able to view the host agent records in the Host Information table, see the HP XP7
Performance Advisor Software Troubleshooting and FAQs Guide.
To view the host agent details:
1. Log on to HP XP7 Performance Advisor. For more information, see “Launching HP XP7
Performance Advisor (page 64).
2. Click Monitoring+Array View in the left pane.
