HP XP7 PA Software Installation Guide

Collecting configuration data
You can create a one-time configuration data collection or schedule it on a periodic basis. The
procedure described here is for scheduling a configuration data collection.
IMPORTANT:
Select only one command device from an XP, P9000 or an XP7 disk array to perform the
configuration data collection for that array.
When a configuration data collection is in progress for an XP, P9000 or an XP7 disk array,
do not initiate another configuration data collection for that array.
The outband mode of configuration data collection is only supported for the P9500 Disk Array
and the XP10000, XP12000, XP20000, and XP24000 Disk Arrays.
With every outband mode of configuration data collection for an XP or an XP7 disk array,
HP XP7 Performance Advisor gets the latest internal raw disk capacity of that XP disk array
or the latest usable capacity of that P9500 disk array. These values are updated under Array
Capacity (TB) on the License screen. So, it is necessary that the SVP in the XP or the XP7 disk
array be online, accessible, not locked by any other user, or under maintenance.
HP XP7 Performance Advisor v6.1 supports only the outband mode of configuration data
collection. If you select the I understand that HP XP7 Performance Advisor does not support
the inband mode of configuration data collection check box while installing or upgrading from
any previous version to v6.1, the schedules that are created using the inband mode of data
collection are deleted.
The outband mode of configuration data collection allows HP XP7 Performance Advisor to
directly collect data from the XP, P9000 or XP7 disk array through the array SVP (not applicable
for XP1024/128 Disk Arrays).
To schedule a configuration data collection:
1. Click Monitoring+Array View in the left pane.
2. Click the Configuration Collection tab on the Array View screen.
3. In the Configuration Collection table, select the command device record corresponding to the
XP, P9000 or the XP7 disk array for which you want to collect the configuration data.
Alternatively, click an XP, P9000 or an XP7 disk array icon in the Available Arrays section to
view the corresponding set of records highlighted under the Configuration Collection tab. The
existing set of records are automatically sorted to display the command devices that belong
to the selected XP, P9000 or the XP7 disk array at the beginning of the Configuration Collection
table.
4. Select Collection Period as Recurring.
NOTE: To collect configuration data once, select One Time as the collection period.
