Setting up the RISS Outlook Interface

Before you can use the RISS Outlook Interface with Outlook, your system adm inistrator must install the

Outlook plug-in, and then conﬁ gure your Outlook account.

Before you can use the RISS Outlook Interface with OWA, your system administrator must install and

conﬁgure t

he OWA product on the Exchange server. There is no additional conﬁguration on the desktop

computer f

or OWA. OWA is a web-based interface tha t uses your browser and does not require Outlook

or the plug-ins to be installed.

Supported Outlook versions

Use one of the following supported versions of Outlook when using the RISS Outlook Interface:

• Outlook 2000

• Outlook 2002 (Outlo ok XP) with Service Pack 2

• Outlook 2003 with Service Pack 1

If you are using OWA to access your Outlook account, you can use any browser that is supported by

OWA. Using Internet Explorer is recommended because it gives you full functionality and provides access

to all features. Non-Microsoft browsers have basic mail features and may have reduced functionality

compared to Internet Explorer.

Installing the Outlook plug-in or OWA

Contact your system administrator or refer to the RISS Administrator Guide for more information about

instal

ling the Outlook plug-in.

Becaus

e OWA is a web-based interface that uses your browser, you do not ne ed to install or conﬁ gure

any plug-ins.

Understanding the user interface

You can use O utlook or OWA to display and work with archived m essages. You can also use the search

tools in Outlook to locate archived em ail messages.

NOTE:

OWA can be installed and used without installing Outlook. If Outlook not installed, the RISS Web

Interface can still perform an archive search, but it cannot export a PST ﬁle.
