Introduction
This document is intended for IAP administrators and field personnel responsible for installing and
managing an HP Integrated Archive Platform (IAP). The objective of this whitepaper is to provide
guidance on managing repositories and retention. This whitepaper covers the following topics:

This whitepaper also discusses the creation and management of IAP repositories the various
methods used to create repositories are explained, as is using the PCC (Platform Control Center) to
grant access to repositories and manage routing. In addition, it demonstrates how repositories are
created from quarantined search results using the IAP Content Search and Retrieve Interface.
Domain based retention settings for repositories are explained, along with how to monitor and
change retention periods for domains and repositories using the PCC. We will examine what
happens to messages once the retention for those items has been met.
The IAP contains several “special repositories” that are designed to help organizations manage their
archived data and to meet auditing and regulatory requirements. Each of these repositories is
explained in this whitepaper.
