Guidelines for using IBM DB2 Universal Database (UDB) with HP StorageWorks Storage Mirroring (T2558-96335, June 2009)

2 Sample Implementation
This section describes an example of how to configure Storage Mirroring and DB2. Use these
procedures as a guideline for creating your own implementation. Because no two environments or
configurations are exactly the same, you will probably need to implement additional or different steps
than what is documented here in order to make the solution work in your environment.
Requirements
For this scenario, your system must meet the following requirements:
Microsoft Windows Server® 2000 or 2003 (tested on Windows 2003)
Licensed copies of IBM DB2 UDB version 8.x or 9.x
Licensed copies of Storage Mirroring with the latest service pack
Install software on the source
1. Install DB2 on the source, if it is not already installed.
2. Record the drive and directory where DB2 is installed. The default directory for DB2 is
<drive>:\Program Files\IBM\SQLLIB\DB2
3. Install Storage Mirroring on the source machine using the installation defaults.
Install and configure software on the target
1. Install Storage Mirroring on the target server using the installation defaults. See the HP Storage-
Works Storage Mirroring installation guide for details.
2. (Optional) Configure the target to allow services to interact with the desktop (so that the scripts
will display on the console when they are run):
a. Select Start, Programs, Administrative Tools, Services and double-click the Storage Mirroring
service.
b. Select the Log On tab. Select the Allow Service to Interact with Desktop check box and click
OK.
