HP Storage Platform 2.0 Release Notes

Known Issues
Credentials Management
The following are known issues with Credentials Management:
The address lookup portion of the credential database currently does not implement an
acceptable operation for adding new lookup parameters after the initial creation of the
database. This can cause problems with the addition of new hardware after an initial
configuration is in place, as might be encountered during the expansion of system storage.
The following manual steps will be required to ensure that the credential database is properly
setup to make use of the new hardware:
1. Remove the file: /opt/hp/platform/conf/addrcache.xml.
2. Re-run the new hardware registration steps.
Firmware Management Tool
The following are known issues with the Firmware Management Tool:
Under some circumstances the flashing of some hardware components can fail (related to
defect id BZ24404). See the HP HPSP_FMT User Guide, SAW document number c03598024-1 for
details.
Hardware Monitoring
The following are known hardware monitoring issues on the Ibrix 9320 Storage Platform:
If an MSA IO module is MISSING the status of its sensors (Capacitor, Temp) will appear as
UNKNOWN. After the IO module is replaced there is a period of one minute during which status
for all sensors in the array is unavailable. The statuses will be corrected in the next monitoring
polling cycle. (related to defect id ALM939)
If there is a hardware event involving a fan in a D2700 drive enclosure then the location of the
fan will incorrectly state that it is part of the enclosure’s power supply. The fan is a separate FRU
in the D2700 drive enclosure. (related to defect id ALM985)
Disconnected SAS cables between D2700 small form factor drive enclosures are not detected by
the hardware. Monitoring software will not report lack of redundancy in connectivity to drive
enclosures that are connected behind the first drive enclosure. If customer restarts the other
storage controller that has access to the enclosure or removes the other cable to the enclosure
loss of access to storage will occur. (related to defect id ALM1008)
Spurious failure indications and potential system crashes can occur if storage controller or hard
drive firmware is flashed while monitoring is active. You should execute "hpspmonControl --
pause" on both servers in the couplet before performing the flash operation. You should then
make sure to execute "hpspmonControl --resume" on both servers in the couplet after the flash
operation is complete. (related to defect ids ALM916, ALM742)
