SAN Manager LM Release Notes
Solaris
HP SureStore E SAN Manager LUN Management for Solaris is incompatible with CLARiiON’s
Application-Transparent Failover (ATF).
The QLogic 2100 and 2100a host bus adapters (HBAs) are the only HBAs that are currently supported
with SAN Manager LM for Solaris.
In Solaris 7, device names created for assigned SAN storage LUNs are not removed when the LUNs are
unassigned. These device names can be removed manually.
If you change your SAN configuration, disks may move to a different target address, and UPM devices
may appear at different logical unit numbers after rebooting the system. If this concerns you, we
recommend using the links in
/dev/SAN/dsk
and
/dev/SAN/rdsk
instead of the links in
/dev/dsk
and
/dev/rdsk
to access the LUNs.
The HP S-10 and L-10 Hubs are not supported.
After uninstalling SAN Manager LM, you must reboot before re-installing SAN Manager LM. This is
required to ensure that the SAN Manager LM drivers and services have been removed completely.
HP has observed problems hot-swapping some vendors’ Fibre Channel JBOD (just a bunch of disks)
drives attached to a Fibre Channel switch. Therefore, to avoid potential problems, this situation should
be avoided.
If you use SAN Manager LM’s
Scan for Nodes
command during heavy I/O on the SAN, Solaris nodes may
be displayed with missing node (grayed-out) icons in the SAN Manager LM main window. This occurs
because the Solaris processing priority level may not allow sufficient time to respond to the Scan for
Nodes inquiries. To restore the node to the active state, you may need to use SAN Manager LM’s
Ping
Node
or
Scan for Nodes
commands. If neither of these commands restores the node’s active status,
either nice the system priorities accordingly or reduce CPU-intensive processes on the Solaris node, then
ping the node or scan for nodes again.
Assigning and unassigning LUNs to Solaris nodes or share groups that contain Solaris nodes may take
noticeably longer than assigning and unassigning LUNs to Windows NT nodes or share groups that
contain Windows NT nodes.
SAN Manager LM does not manage non-disk (CD-ROM, tape, etc.) devices under Solaris.
