From the Windows Server GUI, select Start > Programs > Hewlett-Packard > Hardware Providers
menu, and select the configuration utility executable file.
NOTE:
For Windows Server Core, you can start the configuration utility from the Windows GUI or from a
command prompt:
Windows GUI: You will find the VDS and VSS configuration utilities in the Windows Start >
Programs > Hewlett-Packard menu.
Command Window: Run the VSS (hpxpvsscfg.exe) and VDS (hpxpvdscfg.exe) configur-
ation utilities from a command prompt. If you use the default location to install a version earlier
than 5.02.00, 6.02.00, or 7.02.00 or if you upgrade to the latest version of hardware providers
from a version prior to 5.02.00, 6.02.00, or 7.02.00, the configuration utilities are located in
the following paths:
VSS: Program Files\Hewlett-Packard\HardwareProviders\XP\VSS
VDS: Program Files\Hewlett-Packard\HardwareProviders\XP\VDS
During installation, starting from 5.02.00, 6.02.00, and 7.02.00, the configuration utilities are
located in the following paths:
VSS: Program Files\Hewlett-Packard\HardwareProviders\P9000\VSS
VDS: Program Files\Hewlett-Packard\HardwareProviders\P9000\VDS
The VDS or VSS configuration utility opens.
NOTE:
You can click the Discover storage arrays button to refresh the list of arrays.
Enabling auto discovery
The goal is to get the arrays and command devices you want the HP VDS/VSS provider to manage
into the right pane of the window.
