Ensure that the Command View is actively managing the Array corresponding to the Volume for
which the shadow copy creation is attempted. If not, the shadow copy creation will continue to
fail.
Hardware Provider takes more than 10 seconds for shadow copy creation. When this happens,
the following application event log message is displayed:
P6000 - Shadowcopy creation failed since the operation exceeded '10'
seconds.
This can happen for two reasons, the array is slow to respond due to heavy work load or there
are too many volumes in the snapshot set. The solution to this issue is to retry after sometime or
retry by reducing the number of volumes in the snapshot set.
P6000 Command View authentication failure
Smart Start v7.2 may cause login failures for applications such as the HP P6000 hardware providers
using the P6000 Command View API. This issue occurs when a server is built using the new SS v7.2
CD and then P6000 Command View software is installed.
To resolve this issue, reset the HP P6000 Command View API password. This password enables any
application that uses the HP P6000 Command View API to authenticate properly. Only a system
administrator can run this utility.
To enable the HP P6000 Command View API, follow these steps:
1. Execute the following command to change the password:
c:\Program Files\Hewlett-Packard\SANworks\Element Manager for Storage
HSV\Bin\elmsetup.exe -pA:administrator -f
where administrator equals the password for the HP P6000 Command View API Administrator
account. You can use any password you wish in place of administrator.
2. In the Services window restart the HP P6000 Command View service.
Applications such as the HP P6000 hardware providers that use the P6000 Command View API
should now be able to log in to the API correctly. The new password is for the HP P6000
Command View API login only. The P6000 Command View GUI login remains unchanged.
Cannot create Vraid6 LUNs
To create Vraid6 LUNs:
The HP Storage P6000 Command View firmware version must be 9500000 or later.
The HP Storage P6000 Command View version must be 9.0 or later.
At least one enhanced disk group must be selected, and the Prefer vraid6 parity type check box
must be selected. For more information, see Using the HP P6000 VDS configuration util-
ity on page 15.
