HP-UX SMH: Disks and File Systems – The GUI does not display

the disks for a VG on HP-UX 11i v3

ISSUE

If a Volume Group (VG) has any multi-path volumes, the SMH graphical user interface (GUI) does not

display all the disks for a VG.

In the Disks and File Systems application in HP SMH, the ‘Detailed view of Volume Group’ does not show

all the physical volumes assigned to the volume group if there are any multi-path disks present in that

volume group. This does not mean that the physical volumes are removed from the volume group. It is

only that they are not displayed.

NOTE:

This problem is seen only in the Disks and File Systems application on HP-UX 11i v3, and only in the GUI.

SOLUTION

SMH text user interface (TUI) displays all the physical volumes assigned to a volume group without any

problem. For the GUI, there is currently no workaround. Look for a future release of HP-UX Disks and

File Systems (FileSystemsWeb version later than B.11.31.09) on the HP Software Depot website at

http://software.hp.com.
