Backing up the HP SIM database
1. Log on to the Oracle Management Server. At the Oracle server console command line, enter
the following:
set ORACLE_SID=<dbname>
where <dbname> is the name of the database to be saved.

2. Enter the exp command, and then press Enter to accept the database backup.
Table 2 lists the Oracle database parameters and the recommended actions.

Enter the user name of the database (the
database user name that was used to
install HP SIM), and then press Enter.
Password
Enter the password of the database user,
and then press Enter.
Array fetch Buffer size
Press Enter
to select 4096 (the default).
Export file BACKUP.DMP
<Path\backup.dmp>
Enter the file name and path of the
location in which you want to dump the
database.
Note:
If a path is not provided, the .dmp file is
placed in the users home directory.

Export Grants (Yes/No)
Press
Enter
to select Yes.
Export Table Data (Yes/No)
Press Enter to select Yes.
Compress Extents (Yes/No)
Press Enter to select Yes.
