6. In the Launch and Activation Permissions area, click Customize, and then click Edit
7. Select Everyone from the list.
NOTE: If the user name is not in the list, then you must first add the name.
8. While the user is selected, click Allow check boxes for the following items:
Local Launch
Local Activation
Remote Activation
9. Click OK to close the dialog boxes.
To set permissions to remotely access WMI.
1. From the Control Panel, double-click Administrative Tools.
2. In the Administrative Tools page, double-click Computer Management.
3. In the Computer Management page, expand the Services and Applications tree and
double-click WMI Control.
4. Select Properties.
5. From the Security tab, select namespaceand click Security.
6. Locate or add the appropriate account and check Remote Enable in the Permissions list.
7. Select Advanced in step 6, if you want to give the access to all subnamespaces within
root”. Select Add user.
NOTE: If user already exists and you want its permissions to be inherited or it does not
have Remote Enable permission, then select Edit.
8. In Apply to list box select This namespace and subnamespaces and selectRemote Enable.
9. Grant permission to the user, whose credentials can be used while making requests to
the host via WMI Mapper.
NOTE: To access a managed node, the credentials you use to create indication subscription
must be a part of the Administrators group.
In case where you cannot turn off the user account control on managed node due to reasons
such as the Domain Controller imposed security policy, then the credentials used to create
indication subscription must be that of the local Administrator. When the user account control
is “ON”, then even if you are part of the the Administrators group, the credentials you use
for remote requests is not considered to be that of the Administrator.
Procedure 6 Enable file and print sharing and Remote Administration Exception
1. Enable file and print sharing:
a. Select StartSettingsControl Panel.
b. Select Security Center.
c. Click Windows Firewall to configure the firewall settings.
d. Click the Exceptions tab.
e. Select the File and Print sharing checkbox.
f. Click OK.
