Understanding HP SIM's Federated Search Architecture

4
NOTE:
It is possible to override the default behavior and to use a fixed
user account (for example, adminCMS1) to view all systems. For
security reasons, HP does not recommend using fixed user
accounts.
Queries to each CMS return data only from systems that your user account is allowed to view. For
example, John Smith logs into the main CMS with his user account, jsmith. The account jsmith has
authorizations to view only certain systems on remote CMSes. When John Smith uses the Federated
Search, he gets information only about the systems that he can view from the main CMS and each of
the remote CMSes.
Figure 2 illustrates how John Smith’s and Mary Johnson’s user accounts, jsmith and mjohnson,
determine from which systems to gather information. John Smith and Mary Johnson perform searches
from the main CMS.
The user jsmith sees a list of seven systems and mjohnson sees eight systems returned from their search
queries. In this example, jsmith has authorization for two systems managed by the main CMS, one
system managed by CMS A and CMS B, and three systems managed by CMS C.
