3. Download the new driver from the Oracle website.
4. Copy the JDBC driver file, ojdbc14.jar, to the install dir/lib and install
dir/jboss/server/hpsim/lib directories.
5. Start the HP SIM service.
For HP-UX and Linux:
1. Stop the HP SIM service.
2. Remove the ojdbc14.jar file from the /opt/mx/lib and /opt/mx/jboss/server/hpsim/lib
directories.
3. Download the new driver, version 10.1.0.2.0 or newer from the Oracle website.
4. Copy the JDBC driver file, ojdbc14.jar, to the /opt/mx/lib and
/opt/mx/jboss/server/hpsim/lib directories.
5. Start the HP SIM service.
UUID
All server hardware has what is called a UUID available to the operating system through the ROM BIOS.
This UUID is use to uniquely identify the hardware regardless of the operating system running on it. While
there is a standard way to decode and format/display this value, not all operating system vendors have
complied with that standard. For software that did not follow the standard, HP SIM converts this value and
displays it in the standard way. This can result in some differences if the UUID is viewed through a given
operating system tool such as dmidecode.
The SMBIOS stores the 16 bytes of System UUID as:

HP ProLiant Essentials Virtual Machine Management Pack
The Virtual Machine Management Pack license cannot be applied for ESX classic 3.0.x, 3.1 or 3.5 hosts.
The HP Management Agents for VMware ESX server 3.0 software must be installed on the ESX server host
system.
To obtain the HP Management Agents for VMware ESX server 3.0 software:
1. Go to http://www.hp.com.
2. Select Software & Driver Downloads.
3. In the ,Select a task and enter a product name/number: section, click Download drivers and
software (and firmware) and enter the correct product name. For example, enter ProLiant BL460c,
or ProLiant DL385.
4. In the Select operating system section, select VMware ESX Server 3.0.
5. In the Software – System management section, click Download for the HP Management Agents for
VMware ESX Server 3.x and save the file to a temporary location.
To install the HP Management Agents:
Sign in as the system administrator (root), download the package to a directory on your hard drive ,and
navigate to that directory. Unpack the contents of the package by entering:
tar -zxvf hpmgmt-7.9.1-vmware3x.tgz
This creates two new directories (/hpmgmt/791) under your current directory. Navigate to the new
./hpmgmt/791 directory and view the README file for installation instructions.
