Reconfigure Host Command
Name
mxreconfig -m host
Updates and changes CMS host and IP attributes.
Synopsis
mxreconfig -m host
Options or Arguments
-m
Required option that prepares the mode to be set.
host
Opens host mode.
Description
This command enables you to realign the Systems Insight Manager host name and IP address with
the operating system after the operating system host name or IP address has changed. For example,
this command could be used after renaming the server on which Systems Insight Manager is
installed.
IMPORTANT: This command is applicable to Systems Insight Manager only.
The host command does the following:
Stops all installed Systems Insight Manager partner servivces.
Changes the references to the CMS name used by Systems Insight Manager.
Changes the CMS primary IP address.
Creates a new CMS certificate.
Restarts all installed Systems Insight Manager partner services.
Running the Command
To reconfigure the CMS hostname and CMS primary IP address to the same as the system name
and primrary IP address:
1. Open a command prompt on the CMS and navigate to the install directory of Systems Insight
Manager.
2. Type the following and then press Enter:
> mxreconfig -m host
3. Follow the prompts that appear to finish reconfiguring the hostname and IP address.
NOTE: If the SQL database associated with the CMS is installed locally (on the same server),
and you have changed the hostname and IP address, you must run mxreconfig -m
sqlredirect before running mxreconfig -m host.
Warnings
Verify that all Systems Insight Manager operations are complete before running this command.
