Another way to define custom fields is to configure the generic SNMP System Location and System Contact fields:
In Windows by right-mouse clicking on the SNMP Service (Windows) and clicking on properties, or
In Linux by editing the SNMPD.conf file.
The System Location and System Contact fields are part of the standard SNMP; therefore, these custom fields can be used on
non-ProLiant servers as long as SNMP is enabled on the server. The Replicate Agent Settings task in HP SIM can also replicate
out the System Contact and System Location fields to multiple servers.
The Server Role, System Location, and System Contact fields are displayed in the HP SIM Inventory reports or R_Inventory table
for programmatic access (Figure 5-4).
