Choose an installation method
HP UPD can be installed using multiple methods including:

Add Printer Wizard

INSTALL.EXE
●
HP Web Jetadmin

Microsoft Print Management Console
●
Custom scripts using Microsoft-approved tools
●
HP PARK tools

Driver Pre-Configuration
The default settings of the HP UPD can be changed to suit specific needs. For example, the administrator
might want to set duplex printing, and print in grayscale as the defaults. This can be done on a per-
installation, per user, per group, or per site basis. For more information, see

Traditional and dynamic mode
The HP Universal Print Driver (HP UPD) can operate in two different modes, traditional or dynamic.

Traditional mode functions like the product-specific drivers. When installed in traditional mode, the
HP UPD is associated with a specific printing product, which can then be selected from the application
