NAME
iCOD – instant Capacity on Demand software for HP-UX
DESCRIPTION
iCOD provides services for instantly increasing or decreasing processing
capacity (CPUs, cells, and memory) on supported HP servers to meet
varying system demands. When the processing demand significantly
changes, you can execute the icod_modify command (see icod_modify
(1M)) to instantly activate or deactivate processors, or defer an activation
or deactivation until the next reboot. The icod_modify command can
also be used to apply codewords and make iCOD components available
for activation. For detailed information about iCOD, see the iCOD User’s
Guide located at /usr/share/doc/icodUserGuide.pdf.
Initializing an iCOD Server
iCOD is installed by HP manufacturing on instantly ignited systems or
can be installed by an HP support representative on existing supported
servers as an add-on. iCOD attempts to connect to HP via e-mail for
purposes of asset reporting. Note that asset reporting is not required,
although it can be helpful if you wish to view asset information at the HP
iCOD portal.
To initialize an iCOD server:
1) Execute the icod_modify -c command to configure
contact information (e-mail address).
2) Execute the icod_stat (see icod_stat (1M)) command
to check the current status of the iCOD processors and
verify that the contact information is set properly.
