About this document Intended audience The HP System Management Homepage (HP SMH) is a web-based interface that consolidates and simplifies single system management for HP servers on HP-UX, Linux, and Microsoft® Windows® operating systems. This release notes is for system administrators and any level of user of HP SMH. New and changed information in this edition These sections list what is new for the HP SMH releases. June 2007 release for HP-UX HP SMH 2.2.
— — For HP-UX 11i v3 (B.11.31) only, a new command, smh(1m) is introduced ( /usr/sbin/smh), which is an enhanced version of the sam(1m) command (/usr/sbin/sam). For HP-UX 11i v3 (B.11.31) only, the sam command in /usr/sbin/sam is deprecated. Any invocation of /usr/sbin/sam will display the deprecation message and launch /usr/sbin/smh automatically. 1 Features The HP System Management Homepage (HP SMH) for HP-UX, Linux, and Windows provides the following features. They apply to all releases, except where noted. Product features • HP Insight Management Agent Security Provides security for HP Insight Management Agents using the Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) for Linux and Windows. • Web-based Applications Security SSL. • Configure Trust Mode Enables you to configure the trust mode level.

2 System requirements This chapter provides the minimum system requirements for the HP-UX, Linux, and Windows systems to run HP System Management Homepage (HP SMH). Supported operating systems HP SMH supports the following operating systems for the HP-UX, Linux, and Windows systems: • HP-UX 11i v3 (B.11.31) for HP Integrity Servers and HP 9000 Servers The June 2007 release supports HP-UX 11i v1 and v2; it does not support the HP-UX 11i v3 operating environments.
NOTE: For Linux, the Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) is supported on SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 9 and eDir is supported on Novell Open Enterprise Server (OES). For Windows, the SmartStart CD requires that all systems have a minimum of 256 MB of RAM. The HP-UX 11i v1 (B.11.11) Operating Environments are for PA-RISC systems only, while the HP-UX 11i v2 (B.11.23) Operating Environments (September 2004 and later) include PA-RISC and Itanium systems.

NOTE: The AMD64 is an AMD Opteron processor. The EM64T is an Intel Xeon processor with Extended Memory 64 Technology. The x86 is an Intel Pentium III/IV/Xeon 32-bit processor. The IPF is an Intel Itanium 64-bit Processor. Verifying system requirements Before installation begins, the installation utility verifies whether: • • • • For HP-UX, Linux, and Windows, the operating system meets the minimum requirements.
3 Known issues This chapter contains known issues with the HP System Management Homepage (HP SMH) releases. HP SMH undergoes rigorous testing before releasing any given version of the product. From HP test activities to date, the following items have been uncovered that you should keep in mind. Please also refer to the HP System Management Homepage Installation Guide and HP System Management Homepage Online Help for known issues. HP SMH 2.2.

1. 2. As a precautionary measure, copy the existing smhpd.xml file into a different directory. Manually add the tag: a. Open the smhpd.xml in the \hp\hpsmh\conf directory on the boot drive with a text editor. b. Add the following line between the and tags: any value between 10 and 3600 c. 3. Save the file. This configuration leaves the default SP2 security enhancements intact, but will allow traffic over the ports indicated above.
