Procedures for Booting and Resetting Partitions
Chapter 5244
Accessing a Partition’s Console and BCH Interface
Each partition has its own Boot Console Handler (BCH) interface that
provides you a method for interacting with the partition before HP-UX
has booted. The BCH interface allows you to manage the partition’s
HP-UX boot process and to configure various boot-related settings.
Each partition’s BCH interface is available through the partition’s
console and is accessible before HP-UX has booted.
Before performing this procedure, check the partition’s console or its
Virtual Front Panel to check the partition’s current state.
• At the BCH interface.
If so, you can access the BCH interface or reboot BCH if needed.
• Booted to ISL.
If so, exit ISL using the EXIT command to exit ISL and return to the
BCH interface.
• Booted to HP-UX.
If the partition has booted HP-UX, reboot HP-UX and if necessary
interrupt the automatic boot process to reach the BCH interface.
The following procedure describes how to access a partition’s console and
its BCH interface.
You can perform this task using the GSP menu.
