Guidelines for Expandability
When populating a CPU cabinet, plan, as far as possible, not only for
your immediate needs but also for what you may want to add in the
future.
For example, if you define four 2-cell partitions in a
32-way-capable-system, you are leaving no room for expansion in that
cabinet. If you have only the one 32-way-capable-system and you need
the four partitions, then this configuration may be the only option, but
suppose you need only two 2-cell partitions to begin with. In that case it
would be best to assign two cells from each crossbar to each partition.
Now you have room to expand either or both partitions to four cells while
still keeping each partition within the confines of a single crossbar.
