What’s in This Version
HyperFabric version B.11.23.03.01 supports the following feature:
Support for Large User Count
Prior to the B.11.23.02 releases, each HP-UX instance limited the value of SKGXP attribute
CLIC_ATTR_APPL_MAX_PROCS. This value was less than 2500 in the Local Failover mode. This
limited the number of HMP instances created by Oracle to 2500 HMP instances, and
indirectly limited the number of Oracle end users.
With this release, the value of CLIC_ATTR_APPL_MAX_PROCS can be increased. To increase and
set the correct attribute value, sufficient number of cards must be present. And, these cards
must be configured as card-pairs. The maximum value of the attribute will be limited by the
number of card-pairs available. Refer section, ‘Additional Configuration Information’ of this
release notes to understand the same.
Additional Configuration Information
In the Local Failover mode, values of certain attributes depend on the number of CLIC
card-pairs. The maximum value that these attributes can take is 9994 multiplied by the
(number of card-pairs configured). These attributes are:
CLIC_ATTR_APPL_MAX_NQS
CLIC_ATTR_APPL_MAX_MEM_EPTS
CLIC_ATTR_APPL_MAX_RECV_EPTS
The maximum value that the CLIC_ATTR_APPL_MAX_PROCS attribute can take is 4997
multiplied by the (number of card-pairs configured).
For example, if there is a single card-pair (i.e., 2 CLIC adapters) present in a system, you can
set the following attributes to the given values:
CLIC_ATTR_APPL_MAX_PROCS 4997
CLIC_ATTR_APPL_MAX_NQS 9994
CLIC_ATTR_APPL_MAX_MEM_EPTS 9994
CLIC_ATTR_APPL_MAX_RECV_EPTS 9994
System tunables for the shared memory should be modified based on the attribute values, but
shared memory must be less than 4 GB.
