Time-To-Call Restrictions
The second field on each line in the Systems file specifies the times pppd
is allowed to attempt to establish connections. Two benefits of time
restrictions are:
• Assurance that there will be personnel on each end of the link to
monitor connection attempt.
• Assurance that connections take place when the most favorable
telephone calling rates apply.
See ppp.Systems(4) for details. The when field is very flexible. It can
be configured by day and by hour, with many different combinations
allowed for the same connection. For example, the following entry allows
connections on any day between 1 AM and 6AM or any time on Saturday
and Sunday:
