Compatibility Information and Installation Requirements
Compatibility information and installation requirements to install the HP-UX Mobile IPv4
product are given below:
Software Requirements and Restrictions
HP-UX Mobile IPv4 requires the following prerequisite software:
• HP-UX 11i
• PHNE_28089 or later HP-UX 11i ARPA Transport patch
• PHNE_25388 or later HP-UX 11i DLPI patch
• PHNE_28444 or later HP-UX 11i netfmt patch. This patch is optional. This patch is not
required to install or operate the product, but is required to format HP-UX Mobile IPv4
network packets.
HP-UX Mobile IPv4 has the following software limitations and restrictions:
• The gated daemon must start before the HP-UX Mobile IPv4 daemon, mipd or miprod, is
started. If gated is restarted, then you must restart the HP-UX Mobile IPv4 daemon.
• HP does not ship systems with HP-UX Mobile IPv4 software preinstalled. HP does not
provide Instant Ignition for this product.

• Mobile IPv4 Mobility Agent Daemon (mipd)
• Mobile IPv4 Route Optimization Daemon (miprod)
• Mobile IPv4 tools
— Mobile IPv4 Configuration tool (mipconfig)
— Mobile IPv4 Route Optimization Daemon Configuration tool (miproconfig)
— Mobile IPv4 Administrative and Reporting tool (mipadmin).
• Configuration files
— /etc/rc.config.d/mipdconf
— /var/adm/mip/AAAKeyTypes.conf
