HP-UX Mobile IPv4 Release Notes
Unsupported Features
Chapter 1 9
Unsupported Features
This release of the HP-UX Mobile IPv4 software does not support these features:
The ‘R’ bit Feature - A Foreign Agent can require a Mobile Node to register through it
even if the Mobile Node is using a co-located address. The Mobile Node is notified about
this requirement when the R-flag (Registration Required) in the Agent Advertisement
message is set to 1. The current release of HP-UX Mobile IPv4 does not support this
feature because support tools to enforce the ‘R’ bit feature (like IP Filter) are currently
unavailable. (The ‘R’ bit feature is useful for ISPs to monitor the access of visiting Mobile
Nodes).
Home Agent Allocation in a Foreign Domain - Home Agent allocation in a foreign domain
allows a Mobile Node to use the AAA infrastructure to acquire a Home Agent in a foreign
network. This feature is not supported in this release.
Dynamic Home Agent Discovery (without AAA) - Dynamic Home Agent discovery allows a
Mobile Node to discover its Home Agent address dynamically during registration. This
feature is not supported unless registration is authenticated via AAA.
Dynamic Home Address Allocation (without AAA) - This allows a Mobile Node to obtain a
home address dynamically during registration. This is not supported unless registration
is authenticated via AAA.
