Verify De-Registration
You may also want to verify that the Home Agent properly handles the Mobile Node’s
de-registration after the Mobile Node attaches to the home network.
1. Attach a Mobile Node to its home network.
2. On the Home Agent, use the mipadmin -bindings command to display the bindings
between Mobile Nodes and Care-of Addresses. Make sure there is no entry with the
Mobile Node’s address in the Home Address field.
3. On the Home Agent, use the arp -an or the ndd /dev/arp arp_cache_report
command and verify that there are no entries that link the Mobile Node’s IP address
to the Home Agent’s link address.
Verify Mobile Node Registration on a Foreign Agent
Use the following procedure to verify Mobile Registration on a Foreign Agent
Functionality.
1. Attach a Mobile Node to a foreign network.
2. Use the mipadmin -visitors command to display the visitor list (list of Mobile
Nodes attached to the foreign network). Look for an entry with the Mobile Node’s
address in the Mobility Node’s Home Address field.

Verify Route Optimization
Use the following procedure to verify route optimization.
1. Connect a Mobile Node to a foreign network.
2. Send network traffic from the Correspondent Node to the Mobile Node (using telnet,
ftp or ping between the Correspondent Node and the Mobile Node).
3. On the Correspondent Node, use the mipadmin -roinfo command to display the
bindings between the Mobile Nodes and the Care-of Address.
Look for an entry with the Mobile Node’s address in the Home Address field.
