You can abbreviate the command name. For example, to get syntax and parameter
information for the configure interface (c i) command, you can type:
help -v c i
mipconfig and miproconfig Default Parameter Values
For some parameters, mipconfig and miproconfig will enter a default value in the
configuration file if you do not specify a value in the command line. In the configure
command descriptions, the mipconfig Default or miproconfig Default entry for the
parameter indicates the value that mipconfig or miproconfig will enter in the
configuration file. If there is no mipconfig or miproconfig default value, the entry will
be “None.
In most cases, you can use the default parameter values that mipconfig or miproconfig
provides. You should run mipconfig and miproconfig when your network interfaces are
up and configured for IP. This allows mipconfig and miproconfig to read the IP
address and other interface information and use it for default parameter values.
If you are re-configuring a previously configured item, mipconfig or miproconfig will
use the previous parameter values as defaults.
To delete a previously configured parameter value, use an exclamation point (!) as
described below.
mipd and miprod Daemon Default Parameter Values
In addition to the mipconfig and miproconfig default parameter values, the mipd
daemon and miprod daemons supply default values for some parameters if there is no
value specified in the configuration file. In the configure command descriptions, the
mipd Daemon Default or miprod Daemon Default entry for the parameters indicates
the default value that mipd or miprod will use. If there is no mipd or miprod default
value, the entry will be “None.
Special Characters
The mipconfig and miproconfig utilities recognize three special characters for the
following functions:
Line continuation character (\)
Exiting a command (control-c)
Deleting a parameter (!)
Line Continuation character (\)
The mipconfig and miproconfig utilities accept commands up to 240 characters long.
In novice mode, mipconfig and miproconfig accept parameter values up to 60
characters long.
If you are typing a command that is longer than your display terminal’s line length
(usually 80 characters), you can split your command across multiple lines by using the
line continuation character, the backslash (\), to indicate that your input is continued on
the next line.
