3. The Foreign Agent takes the Registration Request, with the authentication value
and challenge value, and includes it in a Diameter AA-Mobile Node Request (AMR)
that it sends to the AAA Foreign Agent Server (AAAF).
4. The AAAF passes the AMR to the appropriate AAAH, based on the Mobile Node
NAI.
5. The AAAH verifies the Mobile Node. The AAAH uses data from the Registration
Request and the AAA security key or password configured for the Mobile Node to
calculate its own authentication value. The AAAH verifies that its authentication
value and the authentication value from the Mobile Node match.
If the Mobile Node passes the AAAH verification check, the AAAH also generates
dynamic security keys for Mobile IPv4. The AAAH sends a Diameter Home Agent
MIP request (HAR) to the Home Agent, including the original Mobile IPv4
Registration Request and dynamic security keys.
6. The Home Agent processes the HAR and the original Mobile IPv4 Registration
Request. The Home Agent sends a Diameter Home Agent MIP Answer (HAA),
including a Mobile IPv4 Registration Reply and dynamic keys, to the AAAH.
7. The AAAH processes the HAA. The AAAH sends a Diameter AA-Mobile Node
Answer (AMA), including the Mobile IPv4 Registration Reply and dynamic keys for
the Foreign Agent, to the AAAF.
8. The AAAF forwards the AMA to the Foreign Agent.
9. The Foreign Agent extracts the Mobile IPv4 Registration Reply from the AMA and
sends the Registration Reply to the Mobile Node. The Foreign Agent also extracts its
copies of the dynamic keys from the AMA.
