Step 3: Configure Home Agent Services (configure interface)
Use the mipconfig configure interface command to configure Home Agent services
for one or more network interfaces. In most cases, you can use the default values for the
operating parameters and you only need to specify the interface and Home Agent
services. You can do this with following syntax for the mipconfig configure
interface command:
c[onfigure] i[nterface] interface_name -service HA
Where:
interface_name is the name of the LAN interface.
The mipadmin utility will configure the interface’s IP address as the Home Agent
address. Mobile Node clients using this interface must configure this IP address as their
Home Agent address.
For example, if you want to configure a node to be a Home Agent using lan0, you would
enter the following mipconfig configure interface command:
mipconfig> configure interface lan0 -service HA
You can also use the abbreviated form of the command:
mipconfig> c i lan0 -s HA
You can also omit all options and mipconfig will prompt you for each option value. You
can also use the configure interface command to configure IP address,
advertisement, and registration lifetime options. For more information on the configure
interface command, refer to “configure interface” on page 127.
If the interface will also provide Foreign Agent services (the node will act as a combined
Home Agent and Foreign Agent through this interface), specify the combined Home and
Foreign Agent service (HAFA). For example:
mipconfig> configure interface lan0 -service HAFA
For additional information on configuring combined Home and Foreign Agents, refer to
“Configuring a Combined Home and Foreign Agent” on page 65.
