Configuring Route Optimization
The recommended steps for configuring Route Optimization are listed below. Note that
Step 1 is performed on the Home Agents, and Steps 2 - 5 are performed on the
Correspondent Node. Refer to Appendix A, “Configuration Examples,” on page 201 for
example configuration sessions and files.
Step 1. On the Home Agents, configure security information about the Correspondent Node
using the mipconfig configure node command. If the Correspondent Node is
multi-homed (it has multiple IP addresses), you must configure information for each IP
address on the Correspondent Node.
Step 2. On the Correspondent Node, start miproconfig to create a configuration file for
miprod, the HP-UX Mobile IPv4 daemon for route optimization.
Step 3. On the Correspondent Node, configure security information about the Home Agents
using the miproconfig configure ha command. If the Home Agent is multi-homed (it
has multiple IP addresses), you must configure information for each IP address on the
Home Agent.
Step 4. (Optional) On the Correspondent Node, explicitly configure the source IP address
for route optimization tunnels (tunnels to the Mobile Nodes’ Care-of Addresses), using
the miproconfig configure interface command. If you do not configure an IP
address, miprod will use the IP address configured for the local system’s hostname (the
IP address returned by gethostbyname() for the name that gethostname() returns).
This is appropriate for most topologies.
Step 5. On the Correspondent Node, write the configuration data to a file using the
miproconfig write command. Exit miproconfig
After you create the configuration file on the Correspondent Node, start the miprod
daemon, as described in “Starting the Route Optimization Daemon (miprod)” on page 80.
Verify that miprod is running, as described in “Verifying the Route Optimization
Daemon (miprod)” on page 81.
